It was August of 2020, and we had just come through the pandemic. I was working at Aerotek Staffing in Fargo when a coworker asked if I was ready to meet someone. I had no idea what he meant—little did I know they soon would be creating a dating profile for me on the app Hinge. I had never used a dating app before and was honestly against the idea. But he went ahead and filled out my profile anyway, making sure to mention that I liked golfers and golden retrievers—how fitting.

When I finally opened the app and started scrolling, the very first profile I came across was someone who lived in Alexandria, Minnesota—which, coincidentally, is my mom’s hometown and where most of my family still lives. He had a very cute golden retriever and was pretty cute. I swiped right immediately.

In classic Brady fashion, he took a solid 48 hours to message me—though if you ask him, he swears I should’ve messaged first. 🤪 His second message? “There’s a 90% chance I’m moving to Arizona. Are you still interested?” I replied: “Sure.”

In September 2020, I finally worked up the courage to meet him in person. I pulled up to his house in my banged-up Toyota Corolla (if you know, you know), and a big, fluffy golden retriever came running out to greet me—with the biggest smile and endless kisses. Then Brady came around the corner and I was immediately obsessed with him.

For someone who swore off dating apps and was convinced they were a waste of time, I clearly didn’t know what I was talking about. Brady is, without a doubt, the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I can’t wait for him to be my husband.
